DJ Services

There are a variety of disc jockeys. Many are good, some are great, but only a few go the extra mile to work with you to create the event you deserve.

Gudlite Entertainment's DJs and lighting technicians take pride in going the extra mile to help create a memorable event.

Lighting

The right lighting can bring your event to life!

Up-lighting drastically changes the feel of the room. When the DJ is in control of the up-lighting... the room will come alive.

Help bring focus to the important things such as the cake, flowers, speakers with our pin-spotting and spotlighting.

And of course, the dance floor is just better when lights are involved!

Planning

Your wedding reception is a very important event. Just like other successful events, the entertainment needs to be planned. From the grand entrance to the father/daughter dance to the garter toss, Gudlite can sit down with you to help you plan a reception that is tailor-made... just for you!

Experienced Wedding DJ - Our Specialty

Kent Gudmundson, Wedding DJ in Winnipeg, Manitoba

Gudlite Entertainment has experience. From performing in night clubs, to school dances, to socials and weddings we have performed at them all.

Over the last 15 years we have honed our skills to the wedding industry. From courses to enhance our planning ability to workshops that have helped us be a better MC, we work hard and continue to work hard to ensure that we are up to date with all the current tools available to DJ's. This is what makes Gudlite Entertainment one of Winnipeg's and Manitoba's Premier DJ Services.

How important is a DJ to your wedding?

The DJ shouldn't just stand behind the mixer, spinning tunes trying to keep the dance floor hopping. They need to be technicians, planners, master of ceremonies and a whole lot more. The DJ can make or break an event. A bad DJ will drive people away and prevent them from having a good time, while a good DJ will keep your guests happy and entertained. He/she will also ensure that the night flows smoothly and on time. While there are many DJ's out there, not all of them have the experience, technical skills, training, speaking skills, planning skills and everything else that goes into planning and entertaining a memorable event.

Wedding Tip: Set up times

Setting up for a wedding takes times. A DJ, for example, could take as long as four or five ours to set up if a lot of options are requested. Ensure that set-up times are scheduled with both the vendor, yourselves (for decorating) and, most importantly, with the venue.

Uniquely Manitoba Socials - Our other specialty

Winnipeg Socials

The Manitoba Social is a long-held tradition in Manitoba... it is a part of our culture. Just like our cold winters. While most socials are held to help raise money for a couple's weddings, they can also be held for virtually any other fundraiser. From charities to sports teams, socials are an important part of Manitoba life.

Since Gudlite Entertainments inception in 2005, we have worked hard to make socials a specialty of ours. Which only makes sense, as they are an extension of our other specialty... weddings. Weddings and socials make up the bulk of our business, so rest assured, we know what we are doing. (Be weary of the DJ who specializes in everything... how can a DJ be a specialist in that many things??)

We know the tricks to help create a successful social. From the timeline of events, to song selection to tips and tricks for better sales we can help.

We are not just wedding DJ's

While we specialize in weddings, we are experienced in many other events as well! Give us a call and we will work with you to ensure an amazing event!

With all the different DJ companies out there, what sets us apart? Aside from our skills as DJs, our attention to detail and our knowledge of weddings. Using various techniques, we ensure we gather as much information from you as possible to ensure a successful event. Gudlite Entertainment has a commitment to you, our client, to provide only the highest level of service and support.

Add to that, our team members all have experience in other aspects of weddings. In fact, owner/operator Kent Gudmundson organized many events and weddings during his time as a banquet manager. Rest assured, we understand how important communication is between all your vendors... especially since we have been those other vendors at one point or another in our careers.

What to look for in a DJ?

So what should you look for in a DJ? That is a very good question. There are a lot of great DJ's in Manitoba. Some key things to look for are:

  • Professionalism. How professional is the DJ? How long has he/she been in business? There are a lot of fly-by-night DJ's who are here one day, gone the next. While they may have fantastic mixing skills, will they be there when your wedding rolls around?
  • Personality. One thing to remember is that the DJ will be representing YOU to all your guests for the evening. How does his/her personality compare to yours? Not every DJ will match every couple, so it is important to find a DJ who will represent you the way you should be represented. Also, if your personalities conflict, then working with the DJ will not be a very pleasant experience for you.
  • Experience. Does the DJ have experience? What kind of experience do they have? DJ's who have only had experience in night clubs will have difficulty at a wedding if they have not trained for it. Likewise, a DJ who only performs weddings will likely not be able to hold their own at a rave. There are many different types of DJs. For a wedding, it is best to look for one that specializes in weddings.
  • Equipment. You really do not need to know exactly what equipment the DJ is using (unless you really want to), but you should make sure that the DJ is using professional grade equipment. While the speakers you can get at large department stores and wholesalers sound nice, they generally will not cut it in a performance situation.
  • Membership to an Association. DJ's who are a member of a professional DJ association such as the Canadian Professional DJ Association and the Canadian DJ Association have to hold themselves to a specific standard. While the standards may vary slightly between the associations, rest assured a member of either is a professional and ethical DJ.

The list above is only a guideline. There are some club DJ's who are fantastic at weddings and there are wedding DJ's who do great at other events. The key thing to finding your DJ is to speak with them either in person or at least on the phone. Every professional DJ will be more than willing to sit with you to discuss your needs. By meeting with them, you can get a feel of the DJ and if you want to work with them. If for any reason at all you feel Gudlite is not a fit for you, or if we feel we are not a fit, we will help you find a DJ who is (and we know a LOT of DJ's).

Where to find a DJ?

There are a lot of places to find a DJ. There are a lot of different type of DJ's too. Where can you find the right one?

  • Look Online. There are a lot of websites with DJ listings and reviews. Also, check association websites (CPDJA, CDJA) and other DJ listings such as Find A DJ.
  • Ask Other Professionals. If you have already hired other wedding professionals, ask them. There is a good chance they have worked with a DJ they feel might be a good fit for you
  • Wedding Shows. Wedding shows are a great place for information. But it is not recommended to hire any vendor at one. They are busy and you will be bombarded with a lot of information. Ask questions and gather data. Then go home, sort through it all and put together a list of DJ's to call
  • Events. If you are at an event and you like the DJ who is performing, then go up and ask for his/her card! Give them a call a few days later and sit down to discuss how they can help you create an amazing event!

Huge Selection of Music

Huge Song Selection

Gudlite Entertainment sources music from the industries leading suppliers. This means that our library is always updated and current. We also provide an online guest request portal that allows your guests to request their favorite song in advance. Thus, if it is a song that we may not have, we can ensure to locate it before the event.

What if a song is requested at the event and you do not have it?

If a song is requested that we do not have in our library, we will check all of our sources for it (provided we have a cellular signal) and if one of our suppliers has it, we will download on the spot and have it cued up as soon as possible.

We travel almost anywhere
(Yes... beyond Winnipeg's perimeter highway!)

Gudlite Entertainment provides DJ service throughout Manitoba, North Western Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta and anywhere else our services are requested.
