Frequently Asked Questions

These are some of the common questions that we are asked. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact us.

Why Choose Gudlite Entertainment?

Gudlite Entertainment is a small D.J. entertainment service, thus we are able to work with our customers one on one to ensure that the event will go smoothly. A disc jockey must have the ability to not only mix music, but understand what the crowd wants to hear. We have many years of experience in doing this. Our D.J.'s have played hundreds of events including weddings, socials and some of the most popular night clubs in the city.

We use only quality equipment from manufacturers known for producing durable and high quality products. Quality equipment means quality sound.

We also include with every booking an energizing light show. This would cost extra with most companies, but Gudlite Entertainment offers it FREE.

Do you use CD's or MP3's?

In order to maintain a high quality, clean sound, Gudlite Entertainment uses only high quality CD's purchased from a company that specializes in manufacturing A.V.L.A. licensed compact discs for professional disc jockeys.

What is the A.V.L.A and are you licensed by them?

Gudlite Entertianment has an A.V.L.A. lisence that is provided through the Canadian Online DJ Association Inc.

"The A.V.L.A. (Audio-Video Licensing Agency Inc.) is a non-exclusive angency that provides licences on behalf of record companies and producers for the purpose of broadcasting or duplicating audio and video recordings in Canada"

Quoted from the ACCT website

Do we have to use your light show?

Our light show is provided free of charge. If you do not wish to use our light show, you may request that we do not bring it. Remember, however, that since we offer our lights free of charge, the price will not be reduced if we do not bring the lights.

In situations where you do not want a lot of fast moving lights, we can just bring the Hyperbeam. This light has multiple beams of light that dance around the dance floor and to the sides. This light is great for wedding receptions and other elegant events.

When do you set up the equipment?

We will usually arrive at least 1-2 hours prior to the event. This gives us ample time to set up and test our equipment.

Is Gudlite Entertainment insured?

Yes. Gudlite Entertainment is fully insured.

Do you take requests?

We most certainly do! We will gladly play requests that we receive prior and during the event. we do, however, reserve the right to control the requests that are played. For example, if your event has several young children in attendance, it is unlikely we will play a song with strong violence, sexual content and/or vulgarity. If we play a song like this, it will be later on in the evening, when the young ones have all gone to bed.

Also be aware, that due to availability (some artists are restricted, meaning they will not allow their songs to be put on a DJ compilation CD), time limitations and other factors, there is a chance that not all requests can be played.

And remember... Your guests can prerequest their favorite songs by visiting this website and clicking the "request a song" link

What if we would like a song that you do not have?

If there is a song that you wish to hear, and we do not have it, you may let us know in advance, and we will attempt to locate it, or you may bring your own CD.

Please Note: Any CD that is not picked up at the end of the night, will be returned to the person named on the invoice.

Gudlite Entertainment can not be held liable for lost or damaged CD's once the event is over. All unclaimed CD's will be turned over to the host of the event.

How loud is the music?

There is no need to harm the eardrums of your guests. (That is unless you want us to...) Our volume is controlled so that your guests will have an enjoyable evening. Every venue is different, and we take pride in our ability to control the sound of your equipment so that everyone will be happy. However, quite often, near the end of the night when mostly young people are still hanging out... we may (if it is appropriate and wanted) BLOW YOUR SOCKS OFF!!!

How far do you travel?

Gudlite Entertainment provides service to Winnipeg and the surrounding area. We will (and have) travel further, however be aware that charges for mileage and other travel expenses (lodging, food ect.) may apply

Should we feed the DJ?

It is not necessary to provide the DJ with a meal. However, a meal is greatly appreciated for longer events as the disc jockey is unable to sneak off to a restaurant, and many venues do not allow us to bring food. If you are providing a meal, please le us know ahead of time.

Is tipping required?

You will never see a tip jar at our table. Tipping is by no means required or expected. If you are satisfied with the performance, you may, if you wish, tip the DJ, however you are under no obligation to do so

As stated above, Gudlite Entertainment is a small DJ service. The owner/operator also works a full time 9 to 5 job that he thoroughly enjoys.

When should we book?

The earlier you can book your event, the better. Dates fill up fast, especially in the prime seasons (spring, fall and December). We are a small service, and bookings are on a first come, first served basis. That doesn't mean that we are booked all the time. If you are late in the planning stage, or need a last minute DJ, feel free to contact us. We may have an opening.
